Why Artemis?

Artemis was a self-made goddess. As a child, she crawled into Daddy Zeus’ lap and asked him to support her in her plan to be a huntress goddess and live in the mountains.  She convinced the Cyclops to make arrows for her.  Artemis’ arrows were silver and spectacular.  She became an equal archer to her brother Apollo; some say she was better.

And she’s my namesake!

The sacred island of Delos is located in the center of the Cycladic Islands in Greece.  Mount Cynthus is located in the center of Delos.  The Cynthion, the Sanctuary of Athena Cynthia, is located on top of Mount Cynthus.

In Greek mythology, Leto gave birth to Artemis and her twin, Apollo, on this island.  Artemis is thus also referred to as Cynthia!
